February 28, 2024 Recognised by the Ministry of Textiles and CITI (Confederation Of Indian Textile Industry) in , 38-year-old Kumuda , a resilient woman entrepreneur, has emerged as a trailblazer in textile waste management.
Hailing from the waste picker community, Kumuda’s journey began with her own store and transitioned into becoming a DWCC (Dry Waste Collection Center) operator in JP Nagar Textile Waste Management Programme , an initiative by Hasiru Dala called . They operate in eight wards in Bengaluru, collecting textile waste and supporting livelihoods for waste pickers while promoting sustainable practices.
