... -
September 12, 2024 At the recent ITM show in Turkey, Lakshmi Machine Works Limited (LMW) made waves with their latest technological advancements in textile machinery. The company, known for its commitment to innovation, automation, and customer-centric solutions, continues to push the boundaries in the global textile industry. In an insightful conversation with Mr. M. Sankar, Director (Operations) of LMW, we explore the company’s latest innovations, the role of automation in the textile sector, and the vision for LMW’s future.
LMW’s recent innovations have set new benchmarks in the textile machinery sector. At ITMA 2023, the company unveiled its LR90 series spinning frame, boasting the longest spindle in the world with up to 2400 spindles. This groundbreaking technology has been met with overwhelming acceptance by customers globally. Mr. Sankar highlighted the market’s positive response, emphasizing how this innovation significantly reduces the machine’s footprint and lowers the cost per installation. As the company begins to secure orders, prestigious international installations are expected by the end of the year.
Expanding Global Footprint
For LMW, Turkey stands out as a prime market, thanks to the country’s advanced adoption of new technologies, including automation. Other important export markets include Indonesia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and emerging regions like Egypt. Mr. Sankar also emphasized the role of automation in enhancing profitability for spinners. With LMW’s end-to-end solutions, including fully connected machines and advanced automation systems, spinners can now achieve greater efficiency, reduce labor dependency, and improve overall operational control.
Embracing Automation and Digitalization
Automation and digitalization are at the core of LMW’s offerings. Mr. Sankar explained that LMW provides complete solutions, including winding machines that are fully connected and digitalized. The integration of automation systems, such as the Card with Drafting System (CDS), the Lap Transportation System (LTS) for combing machines and the link system between speed frame and ring frame, has revolutionized operations. The Spin Connect, is a web based monitoring and control application which networks the process from Blow room to Winder and helps customers for taking I formed decisions, by providing real time updates and analytics. This transition to digitalization and automation has not only addressed labor shortages—a significant challenge in the textile industry—but also enhanced efficiency, translating into better top and bottom lines for customers.
Strategic Expansion in Dubai FTZ
LMW’s strategic diversification into the Dubai Free Trade Zone (FTZ), LMW GLOBAL FZE, marks a significant step in its international expansion. This move, driven by the need for logistical efficiency and market proximity, enhances customer connectivity and reduces shipping times. The company’s customer-centric approach is further strengthened by this expansion, ensuring better service and support for its global clientele.
Addressing concerns about raw material availability amidst expanding spindle capacities, Mr. Sankar projected a shift in India’s textile industry. Traditionally, the Indian market has been dominated by cotton, but there is now a growing acceptance of man-made fibers. This diversification is expected to mitigate any potential challenges related to raw material shortages, as a blend of fibers becomes more prevalent in the industry.
Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Mr. Sankar envisions LMW as a dominant global player in the textile machinery market. The company’s focus on innovative technology, localized service support, and a strong domestic presence is expected to solidify its position as the preferred choice for customers worldwide. By 2025, LMW aims to be recognized as a leading brand synonymous with excellence in textile machinery.
LMW continues to lead the textile machinery industry with its relentless pursuit of innovation and customer satisfaction. With a clear vision for the future and strategic initiatives in place, LMW is poised to achieve even greater heights, driving the textile industry forward on a global scale.
