Non-woven fabric has become a staple of daily life, according to Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh, and demand for it is rising as the nation’s middle class experiences an improvement in their level of living. He was giving a speech at Mumbai’s 10th Non-Woven Tech Asia International Exhibition.
He underlined the need for non-woven product innovation in the areas of filtration, cleanliness, health, and agriculture. Additionally, he emphasised the significance of sustainability and the non-woven textile industry’s contribution to the creation of new jobs. He expressed his belief that in the future, this technology will not only transform the health sector but also the agricultural industry. Additionally, he said that this industry represents the future of India and the government will provide all possible cooperation for the development of this sector.
The Minister indicated a special interest in cutting-edge goods including clothing and hygiene products for babies made of non-woven biodegradable materials and items based on milkweed floss. His engagement with exhibitors and discussion of the wider ramifications for the industry demonstrated his passion for these developments.
On the occasion, the Minister expressed, “We recently interacted with beneficiaries of the PLI scheme in textile sector. Almost 30-40 per cent of beneficiaries were from non-woven textile industries and 5-6 companies were manufacturing products like baby wipes, diapers.” Today we are selling indigenously produced diapers and baby wipes in the local market. He also urged to focus on exporting non-woven products of the country to the whole world.
