Have you ever wondered where retailers get their trend forecasting done? How do retail companies choose fabrics, textiles and manufacturing firms? Many of them go to the GlobalTex Trade Show for advice, future trends and goods and services resources. And you can get a chance to check it out this coming September!
GlobalTex, the premier West Coast textiles trade show, took over Los Angeles Convention Center for the LA International Textile & Sourcing Fair last week from March 2-4, 2010. It has been described as "the largest tradeshow in the United States for apparel textiles and technology, created to meet the high-growth demands of the global textile industry" (GlobalTex). I made a trip out to downtown Los Angeles to check out the seminars, mini-events and exhibits featured at the GlobalTex show.
The GlobalTex Fair brought together buyers, sellers, vendors and manufacturing companies under one roof the address the changes in the fashion, textile and production industries. Registered visitors were able to attend industry specific seminars and mini-events and had access to exhibitor booths.
Exhibitors ranged from importer and distributor companies to design service providers to vintage textile collection agencies. Exhibitors were also divided by fabrics. The international representation was noteworthy, as there were companies from India, Bangledesh, London, Portugal and many others. It helped me get a better understanding of the international scope of the fashion business!
Seminars covered a wide range of topics including: Men's, Women's and Children's Trends for Spring/Summer 2011 and Spring/Summer 2011 Color and Lifestyle Trends. All of the seminars and panels featured prominent figures in fashion and trend forecasting industries. There were also two Networking Wine Tasting sessions where attendees had a chance to mingle and learn about the resources available at the show.
The GlobalTex Fair went to great lengths to make this a successful event. The event would not have been possible without sponsors and partners, which included Tala (Textile Association of Los Angeles), MCMC (Market Center Management Company), CFA (California Fashion Association), fBi (Fashion Business Incorporated), Fabriclink, Espacetextile, GES (Global Experience Specialists), mudpie/MPDClick., and The Technical Center.
The next GlobalTex Show will be September 28-30, 2010. Look forward to more exhibitors, relevant seminars and panel discussions and a great experience! My trip there was worth it and I hope you have a chance to visit this coming September!
