West India: spot cotton trades steady to firm

Mumbai – Resting on firm buying support, spot cotton traded in a steady to firm tone in various spot markets of West India Tuesday.

Traders are of the opinion that if exporters demand continues to brisk up, prices may surge by Rs 500-1,000/ candy. Sources apprised that till now registration of 61 lakh bales are done while 42 lakh bales have undergone shipment.

In Kadi, Gujarat S-6 cotton is sold at Rs 27,700-27,800 per candy and V-797 cotton at Rs 19,800-20,100 per candy.

In Vidarbha, Maharashtra new cotton 29+MM sold at Rs 26,500-27,000 per candy, 29+MM cotton in Marathwada and Khandesh at Rs 26,700-27,100 per candy. In Sendhwa, Madhya Pradesh 29+MM cotton placed at Rs 26,700-27,100 per candy.

1 candy = 355.6 kgs

1 maund = 20 kgs
